About Philanthropy Week in the Lowcountry
Philanthropy Week in the Lowcountry 2011 is a time to appreciate and recognize our generous community. It is a time to pause and reflect on our community as a whole, the donors and volunteers who are so generous and the nonprofits that provide much-needed services to enhance our way of life in the Lowcountry. Held November 14th-20th and organized by Coastal Community Foundation, the week is centered around National Philanthropy Day, which is brought to you by the Association of Fundraising Professionals on November 17th.
Philanthropy Week in the Lowcountry occurs the week before Thanksgiving and aims to “kick off” the season of giving through reflection, appreciation, and recognition. The events and efforts are not intended to be fundraisers but rather to highlight and strengthen the importance of philanthropy to our community’s economy and overall quality of life. The week’s events are intended to broaden our community’s understanding of how giving, in all its forms, can provide solutions for our community ills as well as enhance our way of life in the Lowcountry.
